History of the Barn

Beginning in the 1970s, this barn became a pivotal training ground for racehorses, setting the stage for countless memorable performances. It was during this vibrant decade that the barn and land truly took shape. Nelson Housden dedicated his time to training horses, ensuring they are well-prepared before returning to the track at Charles Town. His commitment to their development and performance shines through in every aspect. As it welcomed numerous talented horses like Lite the Fuse Gladis, Celtic Note, Palatine, Mr. Cricket, Maggie Derwin, Dilloy, Sideral Double, Another Dee, Bertie Wooster, Grasshopper, Blue Ridge Concern and last but not least Coal Ridge.

We are excited to revive this historic barn and share the captivating stories of Nelson and his racehorses with everyone who visits. It's a journey into the past that celebrates the rich heritage and the bonds formed within these walls. Join us as we honor this legacy and create new memories together!
